on

Hymns for the Hungry, an event led by the Bowie Methodist Church that allows surrounding churches and organizations to share their gift of music to benefit the local food ministry will be Oct. 22.
This will be the ninth year for Hymns after it was halted two years due to the pandemic returning in 2022. It will be 5:30-8 p.m. on Oct. 22 in the Bowie Community Center.
Due to the current economy, many more people are in need. Each church or organization provide musical entertainment, contribute to the food and provide a cakes for a live auction.
Gift cards to local food establishments and grocery/gas stores will be offered in drawings throughout the evening. Slots for the churches are all filled and members will provide an evening of uplifting entertainment.
“Meal deals” of a hot dog, chips, and drink will be served for $5 and dessert will cost $1. Admission fee is $1 per person.
All proceeds will go directly to God’s Table, an outreach provided by the First Free Will Baptist Church of Bowie. God’s Table is open six nights a week and is now feeding about 140 people nightly.
