Texoma Gives starts Thursday morning
Texoma Gives, the community project that support non-profits through a donation campaign will be hosted on across 16 hours on Sept. 3.
KFDX/KJTL took over the project after the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation board announced it would no long host the day of giving. During its run about $13 million in donations were collected.
Those who wish to donate can go to texomashomepage.com, where they can click on the banner Texoma Gives and it goes to the page. From there they will find a list of registered nonprofits to choose from when it comes to making a donation. A person can donate to as many organizations as they would like.
Nonprofits from across North Texas are listed on the page. Those from Montague County as of Aug. 21 were: Saint Jo Public Library, Friends of the Bowie Public Library, Easy Street Shelter, Texas Community Counseling, Lucky Paws Shelter, A Hand Up Nocona Ministries and TK Ranch. Additional groups may be added.
On Monday the staff and students of Bowie Elementary took time to remember Avery Kelley, age 5 and a kindergarten student at the school, was killed in a car accident along with her mother on Sept. 25 in Archer County. The staff posted this colorful video on Facebook.

The Oct. 9-11 Art of the Song Music and Art Festival is gearing up for three days of art and entertainment in downtown Nocona.
The festival opens on Oct. 9 with a Chisholm Trail Art Association Preview Party from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 9 in the H.J. Justin Building.
Come see all the entries for the adult show, which formally opens at 10 a.m. on Oct. 10. The Mind’s Eye will perform during the party.
