Bowie Memorial Hospital Board approves ‘plan of action’

Published

on

Bowie Memorial Hospital’s Board of Directors approved an action plan for a new BMH Authority, as well as steps the board would initiate if the hospital district election fails.

The board met Monday with an agenda that listed an executive session to discuss with its attorney legal matters related to a hospital authority. After an hour of deliberation, the board returned into open session.

There were two action items on the agenda: Approval of the action plan and information on the recently-completed lab survey. The hospital lab received an extension until October for its license as the results are completed.

On Sept. 14, the Montague County Commissioner’s Court will conduct a public hearing to consider calling a Nov. 4 election to create a hospital district that encompasses the Bowie and Gold-Burg Independent School Districts.

Hospital trustees have been working on this action plan for several months and it was the focus of a recent board retreat. The plan includes everything from present operations and improvements to action that could occur if a taxing district is approved by voters or fails. Read the full plan in the mid-week News.
