Mardi Gras Nocona Style expecting 5,000-plus for Saturday parade
Citizens of Nocona are ready to party at the 6th annual Mardi Gras Nocona Style celebration kicking off Feb. 4. Enjoy three days of family fun entertainment as Nocona brings the New Orleans celebration to Texas with a “Boots and Beads” theme.
The city is expecting around 5,000 people for the celebration, said Randy Duckworth, executive director of the chamber.
There were about 120 floats early-bird registered for the parade, but it’s not too late to join the fun, he added. Registration is $30 this week and $50 the day of the parade and can be turned in at the chamber. Fee includes two tickets to the gumbo meal after the parade.
“We are expecting a large crowd, and the weather is supposed to be beautiful at around 60 degrees,” said Duckworth. “With beautiful weather, a ton of entertainment and a lot of people, it’s going to be a good time.”
