HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Struggles continue for Nocona boys

Have opponents finally figured out what the Nocona High School boys’ basketball team is trying to do on offense?
That question was posed to Nocona head coach Tyson Mankin after the Indians dropped their third consecutive District 3A-9 game on Friday.
“I don’t think it’s so much a matter of teams figuring us out as much as it is our lack of execution on the offensive end of the court,” Mankin said. “District games come down to execution because of the familiarity with the teams.”
Henrietta defeated Nocona 68-51 in a passionate game involving Henrietta’s showboating play and heated words exchanged after the game.
So, what makes Henrietta such a tough match-up for Nocona (14-12 overall record, 7-4 in 3A-9)?
“Henrietta, like Holliday, are a tough match-up for us because of the size advantage that both teams have on us,” Mankin said. “It’s not just the size, it’s the fact both teams have size that can play. Henrietta is a physical team, and we were not able to finish through the contact.”
