HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL: Fouls ‘trouble’ Bellevue in loss

Fouls piled up for both the Bellevue High School and Henrietta girls’ basketball teams during Saturday afternoon’s matinee.
The show had its share of pratfalls as the Lady Eagles and Lady Cats combined for 67 free-throw attempts and the game featured 20 jump-ball possession changes.
In the end, Henrietta outscored Bellevue 16-5 to pull away with a 56-37 victory in this game featuring Clay County teams.
Bellevue, which has played a beefy schedule early against the likes of Alvord and Poolville, dropped to 0-3. The Lady Eagles played at Lindsay on Tuesday evening.
“I thought the girls played tough for three quarters,” said second-year head coach Bryan Goehring. “We got outplayed in third quarter, and that was the difference in the game.”
This was a tightly-called, physical game, and Goehring took note of that.
Emily Trail fouled out in the fourth quarter. Zoe Berry, Ally Corwin, FreeDom Morris and Megan Brown all finished with four fouls. Emily Largent and Cassie Simpson saw increased playing time.
“We had quite a few girls in four trouble, which allowed our freshmen to get some game experience which will benefit us down the road in district and the playoffs,” Goehring said. See more, including the complete box score, in the Nov. 25 Bowie News.
