Commissioners meet Oct. 11
Montague County Commissioners will begin the new fiscal year with their first meeting at 9 a.m. Oct. 11.
After the consent agenda of monthly items the court will consider appointing Kathy Phillips to the Montague County Tax Appraisal District Board of Directors to fill the unexpired term of the late Robert Hensell that expires Dec. 31.
All the county taxing entities were asked to submit nominees, and each one will then approve a resolution casting their respective votes for the nominees.
The annual resolution for the indigent defense grant program will be presented for 2022, along with a memorandum of understanding with the Abilene Recovery Council.
A separate memo will be examined with the county judge, and the two justice of the peace officers with the Helen Farabee Substance Abuse Services, which provides mental health services for incarcerated persons and other needs in the county.
A replat in precinct two, Eagle Land Subdivision formally known as Lakeside Place will be reviewed, along with the confirmation of a existing county road, Casino Road and acceptance of a new survey for lots 49 and 50 as shown on the plat of record in the commissioner’s court record of minutes.

Gold-Burg High one-act prepares for public show on Sunday
The cast and crew of Gold-Burg High School’s state-bound one-act play “Interview,” will present a public show at 4 p.m. on May 5 in the Bowie Junior High Auditorium.
Admission is $5 and there will be a bake sale to raise funds for travel and other OAP expenses. The show is directed by Linda Fitzner.
The group will travel to Austin to perform on May 13 for the state title. This is the school’s first time to take a play to the state contest.

Voters decide today on two ISD bonds
Voters in Bowie and Forestburg Independent School Districts will have their say Saturday as both entities offer up bond issues to improve infrastructure.
Early voting came to an end on Tuesday with a total of 1,230 people casting their ballots.
On election day the polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at three locations: Bowie Senior Citizens Center, Forestburg ISD Library and Sunset City Hall. Voters can cast their ballots at any of these locations due to countywide voting.
