Summer Reading Club to begin at Nocona Library
The Summer Reading Club at Nocona Public Library will take place July 1 and run throughout the month to July 31.
This is a free program open to children ages three to 12. Children can register at the library through July 15. Students are encouraged to enjoy reading as part of their summer break.
Coupons for free ice cream cones will be awarded to each child as they complete and return reading logs. There will be a party in August for all registered participants.
Also part of its summer program, the library staff will conduct summer story time for children of all ages. It will take place at 10 a.m. starting July 10 and be on the following Thursdays during July. Lots of activities and crafts are planned.
You do not have to be a registered participant in the summer reading club to attend storytime.

March new additions released at Bowie Library; author to visit
Bowie Public Library releases its new additions for March, and Friends of the Library host an author’s program.

Springtime Sip & Stroll on March 20
It is time for Spring and the commencement of the first 2026 Sip & Stroll with Me event in downtown Bowie.
Bowie Community Development and 20 downtown participating business owners are excited to welcome back strollers to the community and usher in the warmer temperatures. This event is a great opportunity to see what is new and true to Bowie. Plus, on March 20, the Friends of the Bowie Animal Shelter will be set up in downtown for adoptions.
Fun activities like a spring photo booth, live music and horse-drawn carriage rides down the historic brick streets are all attractions coming from 5 to 8 p.m. on March 20.

Primary JP2 winner to take office early, Pigg resigns
Justice of the Peace Jack Pigg submitted his resignation to the Montague County Commissioner’s Court on March 9 effective March 15, and he will be replaced with the recently elected Republican Party nominee Glen Neff who will be sworn in on March 16.
That decision was announced after a brief executive session in the March 9 court session.
