West golf tournament raises more than $50K

Nocona came together as a community on Saturday at Indian Oaks Golf Course for a tournament supporting Luke West’s fight with leukemia.
The Drive Fore Lukemia tournament featured a field of 108 golfers from the region and as far away as Clovis, N.M.
According to the Mayo Clinic website, leukemia is a cancer of the body’s blood-forming tissues, including the bone marrow and lymphatic system. It normally begins in white blood cells.
West is an alumnus of Nocona High School and former student at Texas Tech University, six credits short of graduation. He has been studying both history and education at the Lubbock-based school.
“This was a huge success,” said event co-coordinator Sanda Fenoglio. “The support has been wonderful. It’s more than we could have asked for.” For more on this story, read the mid-week edition of The Bowie News.
