HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Bowie opens with split at Brock

The Bowie High School softball program opened the season with a split of games on Thursday at the Brock Tournament.
Bowie (1-1) suffered a 13-8 loss to host Brock in the morning, but the Rabbits turned around in the afternoon and rallied for an 11-9 win over Tolar.
In the loss to Brock, Braxton Deford had a couple of RBIs while Maylie Short took the loss on the mound. Hannah Shaw and Petie Wolsey both went 2-for-3.
Against Tolar, Shaw smacked the game-winning double to score Tristin Hopson and Petie Wolsey. Hopson and Wolsey both reached base earlier in the sixth on singles.
Ashlyn Vanwey, Tori Stockard and Shaw all finished with two RBIs. Short earned the win.
Bowie continued play in the Brock Tournament on Friday with games against Brownwood and Pilot Point. The Rabbits play two more games today against Midland Christian and Azle.
Petrolia 13, Nocona 3
Petrolia plated 10 runs in the third inning to beat Nocona in another season opener on Thursday.
