HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS GOLF: Polk powers through with 90

Bowie High School junior golfer Chloe Polk fired an opening-day 90 at the Conference 3A regional golf tournament at Oak Hurst Golf Course.
Oak Hurst is a challenging course with large, contoured greens and water comes into play on 11 of the 18 holes.
The par-72 course plays 5,177 from the red tees, 5,357 from the white, 5,857 yards from blue, 6,371 yards from gold and 6,813 yards from black.
Nocona sat in eighth place in the team standings after the first day, putting together a composite score of 419.
Angel Rhudy shot the Lady Indians best score with a 102, while Kalyn Crow was next (104) and MaKenzie Breeze (105).
Josie Chism scored a 108 and Chloey Hamilton a 114 to wrap up Nocona’s opening-day tallies.
Chapel Hill recorded the lowest score as a team with a 364.
Rylee Staley from Jacksboro carded a 91, and Cooper’s Madison Oats had the lowest score among individuals with an 81.
Conference 1A
Sarah Patrick carded an opening-round 125, which was good enough for a 19th-place tie with Josey Wetzel from Yantis, at the Conference 1A regional golf tournament at Legends Golf Course and Resort in Stephenville. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
