Bowie, Montague County experience flooding

A car goes through high water along Patterson Street near Nelson Street shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday.  There were many flooded streets across the city, as well as in Nocona and Saint Jo. Numerous highways and farm-to-market roads also were closed due to high water after more than three inches of rain fell today. The rain was expected to continue into the night.

TxDOT CLOSURES AND FLOODING UPDATE FOR 4:10 JUNE 17, 2015

Clay Co:

FM 1954-  From FM 2393 to FM 2606 in the Lake Arrowhead Area is CLOSED due to high water.

Cooke Co:

I-35 Frontage Rd – In Valley View and at the Red River Bridge are CLOSED.  Exit/On ramps may be affected as well. However the Interstate is OPEN.

FM 1199- Water running over the roadway from just West of Sycamore Lake “T” to CR 409. Please do not travel across high water.

FM 1199- Water running over the roadway just North of US 82. Please do not travel across high water. Motorist should expect delays.

 Montague Co:

All roadways in Montague county at 4:10pm have some degree of flooding. These roads could CLOSE without notice.  Motorists should expect random closures and be prepared

FM 81 (Mill St.) at FM 1125 at the railroad underpass is CLOSED due to flooding.

FM 2583 at the boat dock at Amon Carter Lake is CLOSED.

US 81 at FM 1806 has high water and could close at any time.

FM1956 is CLOSED from Bluemound Rd to FM3301.

Bowie City Council meets on May 12

The Bowie City Council will meet at 6 p.m. on May 12 in the council chambers.
The agenda opens with a proclamation for Emergency Medical Services Week.
In the city manager’s report, Bert Cunningham will discuss the Rock and Pillar Street project and the Texas Water Development Board grant application.
In new business, Brittany Barnes will be considered as an appointment to the Bowie Community Development Board.
A resolution requesting financial assistance from the TWDB authorizing the filing of an application for assistance will be reviewed.
The master parks plan also will be presented by staff from Public Management.
The consent agenda and public comments round out the meeting.

Commissioners to meet on May 11

Members of the Montague County Commissioner’s Court will meet at 9 a.m. on May 11.
After the consent agenda and public comments, the court will discuss an interlocal agreement between precinct two and the Bowie Sports Association for the baseball complex.
Precinct three will ask for a line-time budget adjustment of $15,000 from operating expenses to part-time.
The court will open and consider accepting sealed bids for emulsified asphalt and prime oil, all on a 90-day contract.
The consent agenda of minutes, bills and reports also is slated.
