CROSS COUNTRY: Pound earns medal at Poolville

Bowie High School senior Brittney Pound raced in with a 13th-place finish at the Poolville Invitational on Wednesday.
The meet takes place around school district grounds.
Bowie and Santo both scored 97 points among teams, but the Lady Rabbits earned third based on a better fifth-place finisher.
Pound recorded a time of 14 minutes, 5.1 seconds, which was good enough for a medal.
“I was extremely proud of how our Lady Rabbits ran today,” Bowie head coach Colby Davis-Pastusek said. “Brittney was our first medalist of the year, finishing 13th overall. We continue to improve with each and every week.”
Valerie Walker and Emmy Thomas also produced top finishes with Walker 18th (14:26.8) and Thomas 22nd (14:51.7).
Courtney Brady was 25th in 15:15.8 and Sage Bullock’s counted placement was in 32nd (15:51).
Carli Shields earned 39th and Madison Hill 54th. Alyssa Byler and Taylor Martin also ran for the Lady Rabbits. Read more, and see complete statistics, in the weekend Bowie News.
