HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Bowie girls top Henrietta

The Bowie High School girls’ basketball team held Henrietta to 22 percent field-goal shooting (11-of-50) as the Lady Rabbits defeated Henrietta 73-30 in District 3A-9 action on Friday.
Bowie, meanwhile, was 27-of-69 from the floor for 39 percent shooting efficiency.
The Lady Rabbits also had a 16-10 edge in free-throw attempts.
Bowie opened up an 18-9 lead by the end of one quarter, and the edge expanded to 20 points by halftime at 36-16.
Four players scored in double digits with Courtney Brady leading the way. Brady scored 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for a double-double. She also had six assists.
River Romine tallied 16 points, Addy Cook 15 points and Kamryn Cantwell 11.
Cantwell, like Brady, also distributed six assists. Romine also swiped a team-best four steals.
Maddie Brown was Henrietta’s lone player to score in double figures with 11. Read more in The Bowie News.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
