HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Forestburg girls whip Universal in bi-district

The Forestburg and Bellevue girls’ basketball teams claimed bi-district titles on Monday evening at Aledo High School.
Forestburg topped Irving Universal by a count of 66-42 while Bellevue defeated Trinidad 65-35 in these games features schools from Districts 1A-21 and 1A-22.
Forestburg will play Saltillo in the area round, while Bellevue has a date with Dodd City.

Forestburg 66, Irving Universal 42
MaKayla Mason dropped in 16 points, including 6-of-7 from the free-throw line, as Forestburg won a bi-district crown for the second straight year.
Three other Lady Horns scored in double figures; with Alexia Britain and Kaylee Choate both scoring 14 and Hope Phipps adding 10. Read more, and see the box score, in the Feb. 17 Bowie News.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
