Bowie High School football players continued to make college choices this week as Josh Monkres signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play football at Kansas Wesleyan.
And fellow Jackrabbit teammate Kevin Stallcup will be a preferred walk-on at Abilene Christian University.
Both players had ceremonies at the high school this week.
Kansas Wesleyan defensive coordinator Vince Fillipp is thrilled to have Monkres join the Coyotes, who finished the 2015 season with an overall record of 10-2, and 8-1 in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.
“I like his attitude and work ethic,” Fillipp said. “That’s why he’s been so successful. He works opponents, and he knows how to win individual battles.”
Fillipp said most of the players at Kansas Wesleyan are either from Texas and California, and the Coyotes have become a juggernaut recently under head coach Matt Drinkall.
Monkres’ versatility will be an asset for Kansas Wesleyan. Read more in the March 5 Bowie News.
