Bowie City Council to revisit audit proposal

Bowie City Councilors will consider selecting an auditor for the present fiscal year and two requests to fill vacancies within the city staff when they meet 6 p.m. on Oct. 3.
The city advertised for audit proposals, but at its last meeting declined a proposal from Mathis, West, Huffines Group of Wichita Falls for $25,500. The Altman Group has been doing the audit the past three years with a one-year option remaining.

Council members had indicated earlier in the month it may be time to get some “new eyes” on the financial ever few years. Altman would do the optional year at $18,800. MWH was the only company to submit a new proposal.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
