Commissioners take no action on security measures

Montague County Commissioners conducted about a 30-minute executive session Thursday morning to discuss security devices or security audits, but once back in open session no action was taken.
This was the court’s final meeting of 2017 with only a brief agenda of topics.
Jeanmarie Baer of Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott, LLP offered recommendations for a pair of property tax refunds. The law firm handles the delinquent property tax work for the county.
She explained two separate pieces of property went to the sheriff’s sale, but did not sell and were struck off the tax rolls. They were then resold and their was a problem after the taxes were paid.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
