A call to an underage drinking party in the 600 block of Hodge late Saturday night led to a brief chase for three teenagers attempting to elude police, and ended with them crashing into a tree and parked vehicle.
Montague County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Jack Lawson said they received a call at 12:40 a.m. on July 15 to assist Bowie Police with a disturbance call at a party where they may be underage drinking and possibly illegal narcotics.
When police and Deputy Joey Stewart arrived, several people were going out the back of the residence and three vehicles came out of the alley behind the residence. Lawson said the deputy turned on his lights as the vehicles entered Rock Street from the alley. Stewart saw a maroon Mustang speed through the intersection at Rock and Nelson and the deputy followed.
The driver almost hit a curb and turned east on Tarrant, where he attempted to turn north on Mill Street.  He lost control and struck a tree located in the front yard of the house at 304 N. Mill.
