Gold-Burg ISD approves LED light change-out

Published

on

Things will be a bit brighter at Gold-Burg School soon as the board of trustees voted to move forward with a $60,000 project to replace all its current lighting with LED fixtures.
The board of Gold-Burg Independent School District met Oct. 15 and considered several options and vendors for the lighting project. Superintendent Roger Ellis said they were looking at doing just the interior lighting, but opted to replace all the exterior light for an estimated total cost of $60,000. Replacing the lights, ballast and the cost of electricity would pay for itself in less than five years with a projected payback of about 3.5 years.
Students, parents, staff and administrators completed the High Reliability Schools surveys. Ellis explained this is the district first year in the program and the surveys are one of the first steps. There were 102 students who participated, 28 parents or guardians, 19 teacher/staff members and two administrators.
