Toddler dies in drowning

Published

on

Despite diligent efforts of first responders a 17-month-old boy died in a drowning on May 23.
Montague County Sheriff Marshall Thomas said the emergency call came in at 10:34 a.m. on May 23 for a child who was found not breathing in water on a residence located at 2672 Jim Ned Road.
Montague Fire Department firefighters arrived on the scene and began doing CPR trying to revive Boston Myers. Sheriff’s deputies and Bowie EMS personnel also arrived to help with those efforts. Boston is the son of Zachary and Kristen Myers.
The child was airlifted to Cook Children’s Hospital, but died from his injuries the next day.
Thomas said the toddler had gone out of the house with the other children, but had gone a different direction. His father began looking for him and found the child in water located in a run-off area.
Thomas said the area of water was about 30-feet X 70-feet, and about two feet at its deepest point. Initially it was thought the child went to the stock pond, but that was not the case said Thomas. The sheriff said this is being investigated as an accident.
