Meyer Park ready for reintroduction party
Beautify Our Bowie, the community-wide beautification committee, will celebrate the clean-up and fix up of Meyer Park with a party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The park is located at U.S. 81 and Adkins Street. Dillon Steen, chairman of BOB, said the response from the community has been tremendous to help paint benches and picnic tables at the park, along with a general clean-up.
More than a dozen businesses and individuals took on a table or bench, while others helped paint the Lions building and others donated paint and supplies.
This is the first major project for BOB along with several other clean-up days. Steen said they are excited to show off all the hard work and for families to enjoy a day in one of city’s oldest parks.
Meyer Park was donated to the city on Oct. 8, 1923 by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Meyer. Through the year various city groups have helped with improvements made at the park. Read the full story in the mid-week Bowie News.
