First Baptist Church of Bowie presents its annual Beast Feast welcoming all men and boys at 6 p.m. on Feb. 15 at the Bowie Community Center.
This popular event serves up a meal of game meats from venison to wild boar, along with more traditional grilling favorites like brisket. Tickets are $10 person to enjoy the dinner and program.
There also will be a homemade barbecue sauce competition. Entries (one pint of sauce) must arrive by 4:30 p.m. to compete for the prize of a three-brisket smoker.
There will be prize drawings for a crossbow, shotgun, fishing gear and a jon boat and trolling motor.
Justin Gibbins, host of Limitless Outdoors, will be the speaker. A well-known outdoorsman he will present an entertaining and uplifting challenge to the men and boys in attendance. He encourages men to leave the mundane and routine behind, and find the wild places “that were made for you.”

The 22nd annual July Jam returns on July 27 to the Bowie Community Center West Hall, 413 Pelham Street in Bowie.
There will be a “chickin’ pickin’ fiddling fun time” as guests will be entertained by amazing fiddling tunes and enjoying a chicken meal with delicious homemade jams because it wouldn’t be July Jam without it.
Tickets are just $15 with the event starting at 6 p.m. The funds raised help provide awards for the Championship Fiddler Competition during Chicken and Bread Days Heritage Festival on Oct. 5.
This attracts talented musicians from all over to visit downtown Bowie to test their fiddling skills on stage in the Bowie Fire Hall on Oct. 5.
Along with the live fiddling entertainment, come hungry and be ready to outbid your neighbors at the silent auction or just stop by for a great meal, fellowship and soak in the air conditioning.
