Former Ringgold firefighter arrested in multiple arson cases

A former Ringgold volunteer firefighter was arrested March 10 on a Montague County Grand Jury indictment for nine counts of arson.
Stephen Travis Lemon, 26, Nocona, faces arson complaints that span across the past 18 months. He was originally arrested as a suspect on Jan. 6 by the Montague County Sheriff’s office staff in connection with 10 fires in the county and one just across the county line in Clay County.
The indictment carries a $100,000 bond and as of Monday he remained in the county jail.

City staff examines new generators for water plant

City of Bowie officials were on hand to inspect the emergency electrical generators that were delivered last week.
Mayor Gaylynn Burris and City Manager Bert Cunningham inspected one of three emergency electrical generators purchased as part of an ongoing Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant. They also talked with Jay Evans, head of the city electric department, and Jerry Sutton, director of the water treatment plant about the next step for installation of the generators.
This grant provides funding for one 150 kW and two 250 kW generators for use at the water treatment plant.
