Siren tests prompt phone calls
If you are hearing a foghorn sound in Bowie around noon time each day, don’t be alarmed, it just a five-second test of the emergency sirens.
The Bowie Police Department recently began a daily noontime test of the system. The monthly first Monday test of the sirens, which is much longer, will continue.
Police said they had a lot of phone calls questioning the sounds, but it only lasts a brief five seconds so it should not cause residents much concern.
