County to consider protected county resolution

Published

on

Montague County may jump on the “Bill of Rights Protected County” bandwagon this week as the commissioner’s court considers a resolution declaring the county to carry that status.
This resolution comes as many counties across Texas have declared themselves Second Amendment “sanctuaries” to assure residents they will stand by the Constitution including the second amendment regarding firearms. Counties began passing these resolutions stating they will not provide resources to enforce any unconstitutional firearm restrictions.
Jack and Clay Counties are the only ones near to Montague which have passed this type of resolution. Denton County approved a resolution in December. More than 30 counties have passed the pro-second Amendment measures.
Other topics on Monday’s 9 a.m. agenda include: Discussion of the former experiment station property; financing agreement for buying a motor grader in precinct four; monthly updates from veteran’s service office and sheriff’s office, along with the SO’s racing profiling report and approval of the Texas Association of Counties Property Renewal questionnaire.
