City of Saint Jo to sell 2.7 acres; hires new cop

There was unanimous approval in the Saint Jo City Council to advertise for bids to sell 2.775 acres of land along U.S. Highway 82.
The council met in regular session on April 10. This city-owned property is located just outside the eastern city limits of Saint Jo on a nearly 50-acre tract of land that includes the 2.775 acres at the north end which has been used in recent years as a construction equipment yard that was leased. The Easy Street Shelter also is on the property and the city’s wastewater plant is at the southern end of the tract.
In the past six months there has been a lot of discussion in debate within the community and council about Dollar General looking for a property to build a store.

Montague County Grand Jury issues November indicted cases

The following indictments were filed with the 97th District Clerk following the November session of the Montague County Grand Jury.
There were a total of 13 indictments with one sealed awaiting the arrest of a suspect.
A grand jury indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

New transformer arrives at Bowie substation

The new transformer was placed on its pad when it arrived at the City of Bowie electrical substation last Friday. Installation of this 20 Mva transformer, which is larger than the two 1992 original 12.5 units, will begin this week and come on line early in the new year. (Courtesy photos)
