The Bowie City Council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. on Sept. 5 in council chambers.
A second public hearing on the tax rate is slated, along with adoption of the annual budget.
A proposed rate of .53 cents per $100 in property value will be considered. This is a .173 cent increase above the 2016 rate of .5127 cents. The tax will be adopted on Sept. 19.
The proposed budget allocates $9,596,922 for utility fund expenses with projected revenue of $11,986,500. The general fund expenses are set at $7,905,718 with revenues of $6,183,544. There is a budget transfer of $1,750,000 from utility revenue to general fund to make up the shortfall.
In other agenda items, an appointment will be made to the library board; Waste Connections will discuss a rate increase; and a marketing agreement with Utility Services Partners will be reviewed to offer insurance coverage for customer home repairs.
