By BARBARA GREEN
Bowie Independent School District’s four campuses went into lockdown Friday, but thankfully it was all in the name of safety as staff, students and police took part in drills.
Letters went out to parents throughout the district to inform them of Friday’s exercise to avoid any unnecessary alarm within the community. Principals explained that school safety is an ever evolving topic as the world changes around us and one aspect is being prepared in the event of a lock down.
Superintendent Steven Monkres said during the past few weeks since the Florida school shooting where 17 people were killed, the staff has been coordinating with the Bowie Police Department on active shooter training and modifying the campus emergency procedures.

As much as gardeners treasure their Supertunia Vista Bubblegum petunias, Supertunia Pink Tiara and Blue Tiara are here to say look at me! Oh yes, and both are building a trophy case with awards.
At first, it would seem the Supertunia Tiara Petunias were designed with the artist gardener in mind. While that could be true it is most likely that these petunias are so unique and beautiful that any combination or application you try simply looks ready for canvas.
