Jail passes inspection, security camera installation complete

Montague County Commissioners received good news the county jail facility passed an unannounced annual inspection.
Sheriff Marshall Thomas reported the inspection during the court’s Dec. 13 meeting. Thomas said the inspector from the Texas Commission on Jail Standards arrived on Nov. 8 for the inspection. There were no issues found during the review.
The sheriff also asked the court to approve the remaining half of the payment to Montgomery Technology Systems for the installation of the new security cameras. Half was paid back in July when the system was ordered with the remainder to be paid when the installation was done. The second payment is $46,808.
Jessica Thomas, technology coordinator for the county, said the installation went well and they were working great adding, “It has made a big difference for that building.”

A BOIL WATER NOTICE remains in effect for City of Bowie, TX water customers along Highway 81 from Parker Road to Old Bowie Lake. Affected customers should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth. Results of water testing should be available shortly after noon today. If the testing is good, the BOIL WATER NOTICE may be lifted shortly thereafter
A boil water order was implemented Monday afternoon for the area served at U.S. Highway 81 from Parker Drive to Old Bowie Lake as water line repairs were made. The order remains in place today. If you are affected by this order and need bottled water call 940-977-4941.
