The Bowie City Council received a review of the quarterly financial statement and various project updates Monday this week along with a discussion on selling a tract of city land at Lake Amon Carter nestled in Silver Lakes Ranch.
The financial report for the fiscal year’s first six months is running on schedule according to Finance Director Pamela Woods, who noted she was proud of the department heads for holding rein on their budgets as expenses and revenues hover in the nearly 50% range.
Council members were asked to consider selling a 24.35-acre tract of city-owned land nestled in the midst of the Silver Lakes Ranch development at Lake Amon Carter.
Cunningham said he learned about this land more than a year ago and was informed the previous administration did not want to sell the land, which remains off the tax role since it is owned by the city.
Located on the Bowie Reservoir side of the lake at the end of Indian Trail Road, the manager said it is a beautiful piece of property that goes up to the Silver Lake boat ramp and could be perfect for development.

The trial was moved to Denton County on a change of venue requested by Hall in March. After 16th District Judge Sherry Shipman read the verdict, it was reported Hall hung her head in disappointment and was later seen crying and emotional as she left the courtroom.
