2A-10 VOLLEYBALL: Saint Jo sweeps Forestburg away

The first time Saint Jo and Forestburg played in Forestburg, the Lady Panthers and Lady Horns played a five-set match.
The Lady Horns came out on top on Oct. 3.
This time around, Saint Jo was the better team as the Lady Panthers swept the Lady Horns by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-22.
Saint Jo finished the season with a mark of 12-21 while Forestburg dropped to 20-16. Both the Lady Panthers and Lady Horns finished with 6-8 records in District 2A-10, tied for fifth place.
Karla Fernandez powered Saint Jo with 11 kills to go with seven assists and three digs.
Hunter Tallon distributed a team-best 14 assists as part of the Lady Panthers’ 6-2 offense. Read more in the weekend Bowie News, including final season district standings.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
