Forestburg High School head girls’ basketball coach Rosana Barbosa said the Lady Horns have a specific goal in mind this season.
What’s that goal? Why, make the playoffs.
It’s a case of so-far-so-good for Forestburg, which rolled to its third district victory of the season with a 57-19 drubbing of Midway in 1A-21 action on Monday.
“It was a good game for us,” Barbosa said. “We are winning district games.”
Forestburg is now 11-7, 3-0 in 1A-21. Midway dropped to 2-12, 0-3.
For the Lady Horns, points were directly attributed to success rebounding and on defense.
Forestburg’s Alexia Britain and Kendall Wallace combined for 26 rebounds; both had 13 caroms apiece. The Lady Horns also had 24 steals.
Makayla Mason was the Lady Horns’ leading scorer with 17 points, including 3-of-5 from beyond the free-throw stripe. Virginia Cody supported the scoring effort with 10 points, which included a pair of 3-point goals – one in the first quarter and another in the third salvo.
