HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Bellevue boys run away from Saint Jo

Maybe the excitement of Homecoming night was the reason.
The officiating crew was on the floor when it spotted a Bellevue player dunking the ball during warm-ups. The Eagles were assessed a technical foul, and Saint Jo’s Wyatt West converted one of two free throws.
Then Bellevue proceeded to score the game’s next 30 points – a run that extended early into the second quarter – and the Eagles soared to an 82-31 victory.
Bellevue head coach Colby Broussard expected Saint Jo to pose a bigger threat than what actually happened.
“We were ready for a good game, but it wasn’t there,” Broussard said. “That 30-0 run, it was crazy.”
Broussard was especially pleased to see all of Bellevue’s players score in the game – including six from Gavin Moore and Dylan Throckmorton banked in a 3-pointer during the fourth quarter. Hunter Fuller also made a 3-ball. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.

The Red River High School Bass Club competed on Saturday at Eagle Mount Lake as the club finished fifth overall out of 28 clubs.
The club had two teams that brought in fish at the end of the day, but one also finished highly.
The team of Carson Caudle and Hunter Blackburn got fourth overall out of more than 100 teams. The pair caught three fish that weighed in at 7.99 pounds.
The club had one more pair that brought in fish. Walker Strahan and Bryce Ramsey got one fish that weighed in a 1.95 pounds that was good for 33rd place.
Only 37 out of the 126 teams were fortunate enough to bring fish to the weigh-in.
