HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Forestburg girls topple Bellevue

The Forestburg High School boys’ and the Bellevue High School girls both had the opportunity to play spoiler on Tuesday in District 1A-21 action.
But, the Bellevue boys and the Forestburg girls made sure there weren’t any spoilers.
The Forestburg girls, ranked 19th in the latest Conference 1A Texas Girls Coaches Association poll, outscored Bellevue 16-6 in the third quarter en route to a 59-39 victory.
This victory allowed the Lady Horns the opportunity to play in today’s District 1A-21 championship game vs. Slidell at Valley View High School. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
“Our defense started off slow, but we were able to do a better job in the second half,” Forestburg head girls’ coach Rosana Barbosa said. “Bellevue is a good team, and they forced us to play strong defense.”
Barbosa said Bellevue was a good test and prepared Forestburg for what it will face in the upcoming playoffs.
