STORM CENTER COLUMN: Kids, start playing golf

People buy new homes all the time.
The Bowie News has a real estate section in which you can peruse homes for possible purchase, in and around Montague County and in neighboring locations.
This week, however, the real estate transaction everyone is talking about took place in the Preston Hollow section of Dallas.
PGA Tour golfer Jordan Spieth bought a home in Preston Hollow, an exclusive neighborhood which serves as the home for Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban, Maverick forward Dirk Nowitzki and British singer George Michael.
Former business executive and presidential candidate H. Ross Perot, former United States President George W. Bush and energy baron T. Boone Pickens are prominent Preston Hollow residents. Mary Kay founder Mary Kay Ash also lived there before her death.
Preston Hollow has a reputation for luxurious mansions, gated communities and a heap of wealth.
What makes Spieth’s purchase newsworthy?
Well, the young man is just 21 years old.
So, what kind of digs did Spieth purchase. On the half-acre lot, there’s a spacious home with 7,378 feet of living space, the expected outdoor swimming pool and a 288-bottle wine closet. There are five bedrooms. Come on, stay the weekend.
There’s also a putting green on site. Jordan, you’ve done well. How very convenient. Spieth put down $2.3 million for this adorable abode.
Spieth generally works out at Brook Hollow Country Club, which is now less than a 10-minute drive from his new home. Read more from this column in the weekend edition of The Bowie News.

The new press box was by the Southern Bleacher Company out of Graham. Athletic Director Black Crutsinger said they looked at a lot of press boxes and decided they liked the one at Lindsay High School and went with that model. Sean Hutson operated the crane from the Hurd Crane Service that put the press box up for Nocona.
