TRACK AND FIELD: Small schools tune up for Area at Muenster

The Prairie Valley track and field team scored 20 points on the girls’ side, which was good enough for eighth at the Muenster Invitational on Thursday.
Forestburg finished ninth with 18 points and Saint Jo was 10th with 12.5 points.
On the boys’ side, Saint Jo scored 14 points and Prairie Valley three.
Juan Sanchez was fifth in the 3,200-meter run for Saint Jo.
In the girls’ competition, Prairie Valley was fifth in the 400 relay and Alley Roof was fourth in the triple jump.
Forestburg’s Cayla Smelser was fifth in the 100 hurdles and fifth in the long jump.
The Lady Horns went one-four in the discus. Cheyenne Banks won with a mark of 96-7½ and Kendall Wallace took fourth.
Katrina Noble was sixth for Saint Jo in the 800 run. Karla Fernandez was sixth in the shot put.
Gold-Burg’s Shelby Horton was fifth in the JV girls’ discus and teammate Hannah Franklin fifth in the long jump. Skylar Hennessey from Saint Jo was fifth in the 100.
Forestburg was sixth in the boys’ 1,600-meter relay. J.D. Moore earned sixth in the 1,600-meter run and fourth in the 800. Matthew Wallace was sixth in the 800. Skyler Sandusky was third in the 100 dash. Read more in the mid-week Bowie News.
