WORKMAN WATCH: Workman throws scoreless frame

The major league baseball season is coming next week, and former Bowie High School standout Brandon Workman is coming off a strong performance.
Against Tampa Bay on March 28, Boston Red Sox right-hander Workman threw one inning and allowed only one hit. He struck out the Rays in order during the appearance.
The Red Sox defeated the Rays 9-6, remaining above .500.
All 10 pitches Workman threw on Saturday went for strikes.
Boston has sparingly used Workman during spring training, trying to build his arm strength for the upcoming season.
Workman has pitched in five games, working one inning on every occasion.
He has allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits with seven strikeouts, one hit batter and one walk. Opponents are batting .375 against Workman, and he allowed a home run to New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez. His earned-run average stands at 9.00.
