LOCAL: Wildcats remain scorching hot in NAHL South

The Wichita Falls Wildcats’ North American Hockey League team remains out in front in the South Division.
The Wildcats have totaled 42 points, eight more than Lone Star. The team has compiled a record of 20-3-2.
Forward Austin Beaulieu was named the Star of the Week for the period that ended Nov. 22, recording eight points in three games – including wins over Odessa and Amarillo.
On Nov. 20 at Odessa, Beaulieu scored once and had two helpers in an 8-3 win. He scored once and had three assists the following night in a tight 5-4 victory over Amarillo the following night. He was a plus-6 that week.
Before last weekend’s games, the Alabama-Huntsville recruit has amassed 16 points in 22 games.
On Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Kay Yeager Coliseum, Wichita Falls doubled up Odessa 6-3.
Austin Albrecht scored twice and Ryan Burnett and Erich Jaeger added goals as the Wildcats established a 4-0 lead at the end of one. Ben Lown tallied a second-period goal from a Garrett Van Wyhe assist. Read more in the Dec. 5 edition of The Bowie News.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
