BOWIE – Briar James Lane, infant, was born sleeping into the arms of his loving parents on June 3, 2025. No service will take place.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert York; great-grandparents, Billy and Mary Jones, James and Dorthy York, and Lydia Sue Lane.
He is survived by his parents, Robert Lane and Whitney York; brothers, Bo Lane and Bentley Maxwell; sister, Jade Shoefstall; grandparents, Michele and Christopher Smith, Donald and Schobie Lane, and Shea Maybee; great-grandmother, Katherine Turner; aunts, Destiny Faultner and Kylie Faultner; uncle, Noah Lane and numerous cousins.

FORESTBURG – David Michael Atkins, 77, passed away on June 8, 2025.
David Atkins will be remembered for his kindness, laughter, and the love he shared to many. A celebration of life will be held on June 28 at 11 a.m. at the Forestburg Community Center.
David was born on Jan. 15, 1948 to Bill and Dorothy Atkins. He was a graduate of Denton High School and attended Tarleton State University on a baseball scholarship. While he originally set out to obtain a degree in veterinarian sciences, he pivoted in 1969 to pursue a career in construction.
Professionally, he had an illustrious career and was respected by many in the steel business. He played a key role in many prominent projects, such as the Dallas AT&T, Indianapolis Lucas Oil, and other NFL football stadiums, the Denver Symphony Hall, and others.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Atkins; father, Bill Atkins; brother, Don Atkins; and sisters, Diane Thomas and Debbie Griffin.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Adair Atkins who he was married to for 55 years; children, Matt and wife Christina Atkins, Amy and husband Dudley Boyd, Sean and wife Jana Atkins, and Ginny and husband Michael Carter; known as Poppy, he was especially fond of his grandchildren, Jake Atkins, Cara and husband Derek Slater, Jackson Atkins, Lily Atkins, Lainey Boyd and fiancé Angel Serrano, Will and wife Emmanuelle “Frenchy” Boyd, Maddie Carter, Abby Carter, Luke Peretti, Clay Peretti, SJ Atkins, Claire Atkins; and great grandchildren, Liam Boyd and Cade Slater. To the numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly as a gentle giant, he was simply known as Uncle David.
David Atkins will be remembered for his kindness, laughter, and the love he shared to many. As the patriarch, he leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, unconditional love to his family and unwavering friendships to everyone he met.

SUNSET – David Roy Jackson, 83, died on June 6, 2025.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on June 9 at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.
A funeral service took place at 11 a.m. on June 10 at the White Family Funeral Home in Bowie with Doyle Wade officiating.
He was born on Aug. 12, 1941, in Decatur to Louis Connell and Cleo LaRue (Payne) Jackson. He graduated from Bowie High School in 1959 and soon later joined the National Guard to courageously service his country. All of his life he traveled all over the country as an independent truck driver.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Rob Jackson; and nephews, Kent Jackson and Heath Jackson.
He is survived by his son, Kurt Jackson, Sunset; daughter, Cristi Bolton, Southlake; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Louie Jackson, Park Springs; three nephews and one niece.
