Bowie Memorial Hospital halts negotiations with the Brough Group

With the Brough Group unable to fulfill any of the financial requirements in the proposed sales contract, the Bowie Memorial Hospital Board of directors voted Wednesday to discontinue negotiations and begin exploring other options.

The board has been in negotiations with the Brough Group since early December with the most recent action on Dec. 30 where a price of $1.5 million was finalized. It would have included the hospital building, all real estate, furniture, fixtures, equipment and assets excluding mineral leases, cash and accounts receivable.

That contract also required Brough to place $150,000 in earnest money in an escrow account along with a letter of guaranteed expendable funds from a creditable banking institute within 10 days.

Wednesday, Chief Executive Officer Lynn Heller recommended negotiations with the Brough Group be stopped. He explained the group has not provided any of the good faith money or guarantee, as well as any further proposal. Read the full story in the weekend News.
