The Bowie High School boys’ basketball team withstood a furious Henrietta fourth-quarter charge for a 52-43 District 3A-9 victory on Friday.
As a result, the Jackrabbits solidified themselves as the leader in the race for the district championship. Bowie improved to 15-10, with three straight wins, and 6-1 in 3A-9.
Jeffery Howard paced all scorers with 23 points, including 9-for-20 field goals, and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.
“Jeffery played with a lot of energy, especially early,” Bowie head coach Doug Boxell said.
Boxell said Howard mixed up his game well, which included plenty of dribble drives to the basket for layups. Jeffery made 8-of-14 2-point shots. Read more in the Jan. 27 Bowie News.
