HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Bowie ranked 22nd

The Bowie High School baseball team was ranked 22nd in the TXhighschoolbaseball.com Conference 3A poll as the Jackrabbits slog through the non-district part of the schedule.
Bowie went 4-2 during the American Cancer Society Tournament last week.
The Jackrabbits were ranked 22nd in the TXhighschoolbaseball.com Conference 3A poll, with West leading the group.
Others in the 3A poll area Gunter in seventh, Sunnyvale in 10th, Brock 15th, Wall 17th, Farmersville 18th and Clifton 25th. Nocona is not ranked.
The TXhighschoolbaseball.com poll was released on March 7.
Saint Jo joins 2A-10 in baseball
Saint Jo High School will field an official, University Interscholastic League-recognized baseball team starting with the 2016-17 season.
The Panthers have played an ‘outlaw’ schedule the past two seasons, taking on the likes of Bryson, Tioga and Notre Dame of Wichita Falls.
Saint Jo will be part of a nine-team district (2A-10) featuring Alvord, Chico, Collinsville, Era, Lindsay, Muenster, Valley View and Tioga.
Brian Blank has served as the coach these past two seasons, with Waymon Holland as the assistant.

Prairie Valley Sports Awards

Prairie Valley hosted its high school awards banquet on May 9. The O.C. Mann Award went to Josh Stout and Linzie Priddy.

Gold-Burg High School hosted its awards banquet on May 22. The Gold-Burg Iron Bear Awards went to Eli Freeland-White for boy athlete and Hallie Nelson for girl athlete.

Richey headed to National Finals

Bowie’s Cason Richey (right) and his horse Hello Lashes, qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo this month. Richey competes in team roping as a part of the Texas Tech University rodeo team as a freshman. The CNFR is scheduled for June 15-21 at Casper, WY.
