LOCAL: Shaffer excels in wrestling

Colton Shaffer, an eight-year-old Bowie resident, won the 75-pound weight class in the Division 2 rookie bracket at the Texas USA Rookie State Tournament on Feb. 26 in Amarillo.
Shaffer had a first-round bye, which gave him entry into the semifinals.
In the semis, Shaffer won by pin over Sebastian Nunez from Mustang Wrestling. The fall took place in three minutes.
Shaffer, who wrestles for the Wichita Falls Bruisers club, won the championship by pin as well – over Tyler Langley from the Boneyard Wrestling Academy in 2:01. Read more in the March 12 Bowie News.
