HIGH SCHOOL FISHING: Unforeseen circumstances hurt Bowie anglers

The Bowie High School fishing team suffered through tough circumstances at the Texas High School Bass Association state tournament.
See, Rusty Edwards’ father, David, unexpectedly died on Friday and that left the two-person team of Mitch Sanders and Jared Stone without an experienced boat captain.
“I would like to commend Mitch and Jared,” said BHS bass club coordinator Trent Gillaspia. “They didn’t let it get them down or upset. They had a great attitude, and they made the best of it.”
Sanders and Jared Stone were given a boat to use on both Saturday and Sunday, and Jared’s father, Andy, was named a boat captain.
Bowie’s other two-person team of Lane Hopson and Hadley Morgan caught two fish weighing 4.4 pounds during Saturday’s round.
But that was it for Bowie on the water at Toledo Bend Lake in Zwolle, La. Read more in the June 22 edition of The Bowie News.
