Longtime Bowie businessman Jim Gilbow and his wife, Jan, made a generous donation of $9,000 to the Bowie Police Department, which is being used to purchase body cameras for the officers.

Gilbow said with all the things on the news and what is happening in the world, he felt compelled to talk with the Bowie Police about what they need to help them do their job.

“The officers need every bit of help we can give them, it makes us be able to have a better Bowie. It is just a stepping stone for us to get better. I was hoping maybe other people would step forward and help with other things,” explained Gilbow.

Bowie Police Chief Guy Green said Gilbow has been helpful in the past donating to make improvements at the animal shelter, and it was him who brought up body cameras.
