The theme for the Bowie Athletic Booster Club this 2016-17 academic calendar is, “Get involved.”
The boosters need help with operating the new inflatable run-through for Bowie football and other sports.
“We need help with it,” Bowie booster club president Keith Weber said. “We used 80-pound buckets of Sakrete and the gator to weigh it down.”
Weber is concerned what could happen to the run-through during a windy weather game.
In addition, Weber is currently seeking help transporting the inflatable to road games as well. The group needs a wagon and a trailer to haul it. Helping with the runthrough is a perfect opportunity to get involved, Weber said.
“Get involved” is certainly the catch phrase, and that includes a possible contest for downtown merchants to decorate their businesses with maroon-and-white pride. There’s strong likelihood of a window decorating contest, the group reported.
Other possible decorations include having more flags throughout downtown. Another morale booster may be car decals. Read more in the Aug. 10 Bowie News.
The new Bowie High School inflatable run-through was a big hit during “Meet the Rabbits” on Saturday night. The Bowie Athletic Boosters are seeking help transporting it to away games, and to operate it during the games themselves. (News photo by Eric Viccaro)
