LOCAL NOTEBOOK: Bowie runners open at Burkburnett

The Bowie High School cross country team will open at the Perkins Invitational at 9 a.m. on Sept. 1.
The meet will take place in Burkburnett.
The high school boys and girls will compete at all meets together this year.
Bowie will compete at Keene on Sept. 9, then Lipan on Sept. 14 and Poolville on Sept. 21.
The Rabbit Run is slated for 2 p.m. on Sept. 28 at Pelham Park here in Bowie. The meet has been moved from Twisted Oaks Golf Club.
The Brock Invitational is next on Oct. 5. The team also has a regular-season meet at Graham (Oct. 10).
The District 3A-8 meet will take place in Boyd on Oct. 17. The Conference 3A Region I meet will be in Lubbock on Oct. 29.
The University Interscholastic League state meet will be at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Nov. 12. Read more from this notebook in the Aug. 24 Bowie News.
