The first public hearing for the 2017-18 City of Bowie budget will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 in the council chambers during its regular meeting.
This budget proposal was presented earlier in July.
The agenda will include discussions on the 2017 tax rate with a record vote to consider a tax increase and the scheduling of two public hearings for Aug. 15 and Sept. 5.
The Nov. 7 general election will be called along with a joint agreement with Montague County to conduct the election.
Other items up for action include: Consider consulting services for group health and life insurance; audit engagement letter from Donald Allman and renewal of an interlocal agreement for 911 public safety answering point services with the Nortex Regional Planning Commission.
There will be an executive session for the annual evaluation and duties of the city manager, city secretary and municipal court judge. These are the staff members hired by the city council.
