After the successful 150th anniversary Chisholm Trail Celebration last year, the Bowie Chamber of Commerce hopes its new Chisholm Trail Heritage Festival April 12-15 will bring the old west to life.
Bowie was not an established city when the Chisholm Trail was at its height, but the trail ran near Queen’s Peak west and north where a railroad tent city would become Bowie. The chamber draws on those deep western roots to celebrate the county’s place on this major cattle trail and in western development.
The festival will have something for every member of the family from a wagon train trail ride on a local ranch to stick horse races for the kids, all capped off by a costumed Cowboy Ball.
